The idea for this project came from my friend Lukas Swanepoel after seeing a box of freshly picked olives from my trees. We decided on the spot to do an exhibition for the Olive Festival.
One morning in my garden he styled the shots and I photographed with black and white film, having a lot of fun in the process.
It has been a refreshing and fun experience to photograph olives, instead of my usually more serious documentary work portraying people.
Colouring the black and white prints from the darkroom has added a fresh dimension to my work and I am delighted with the result.
